On Sunday, November 15, 2020, our Dallas Police Department’s UNIDOS team partnered with several different organizations and community volunteers to host a hurricane relief drive for the hard stricken countries of Guatemala and Honduras. UNIDOS Officers quickly learned that many of our Dallas’ Latino residents had families that were affected in some of those devastated parts of Central America.
The UNIDOS team reached out to the Consulates of Honduras and Guatemala and began to organize the event. The residents of Dallas showed up in force and our officers were able to collect 2 truckloads of relief supplies which included much-needed personal hygiene supplies along with food and water. Our officers took part and made sure donated supplies were handed over to the consulates in both, Houston and Irving.
It is through partnerships like these that we can make a difference in our communities.
