Central Patrol Division Spread Christmas Cheer

The Dallas Police Department’s Central Neighborhood Patrol Officers became Santa Clause to the children of Family Gateway located at 711 S. Saint Paul Street. Officers Delia Pesina and Reneeshia McIntyre wanted to help as many children as they could this holiday season so they reached out to Family Gateway to see how they can help.

Once it was determined that the need would be holiday presents for the children of Family Gateway, the officers brainstormed and came up with a plan. With the help of Major Catrina Shead, a Christmas tree was purchased and placed at the Central Patrol Division where they hung the names of the children and their Christmas wishes.

The word spread within the patrol station and within 24 hours, the officers of Central Patrol adopted all 40 children. They helped with purchasing and wrapping the gifts for all the kids.

The word of their good deed continued to spread throughout the community. This led to a monetary donation from Uptown Inc., which was used to purchase addition gifts for children at other Family Gateway locations.

“I could not be more proud of my officers who went above and beyond to use their own money to serve the community they patrol in order to make a difference in these families’ lives.” said Deputy Chief Thomas Castro.

The delivery was done today, December 18, 2020, and the staff of Family Gateway couldn’t have been more appreciative. They were thrilled and happy to see that the children received the Christmas that they deserved.

“We are giving back to families who are in need, and we are thrilled to see the smiles on their faces, especially during these difficult times.” expressed Officer Reneeshia McIntyre.
