Homicide on Waverly Drive

UPDATE 01/12/2021 at 5:30 p.m. 

Through the course of the investigation, Homicide Detectives determined that suspect Darrin Lopez, a 48-year old White male, was responsible for killing the victim, James Faith.  On Monday, January 11, 2021, suspect Lopez was arrested for murder by the ATF Special Response Team in Tennessee. Officers transported him to the local Sheriff’s office where he will be held until his extradition back to Dallas. See the Probable Cause Arrest Affidavit below for details.

On October 9, 2020, at approximately 7:34 a.m., complainant James Faith left his residence with his wife to walk their dog. While walking the dog an unknown suspect approached them  and shot the complainant James Faith causing his death.  The suspect was said to have entered the above listed black Nissan pick-up truck that has what is believed to be a Texas Ranger sticker in the rear window.

Homicide Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance with any information they may have regarding the above listed vehicle or information related to this investigation. On October 09, 2020 at approximately 7:36 a.m., Dallas Police Officers responded to 1002 S. Waverly Drive in regards to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers observed the complainant James Faith, a 49-year old White male, laying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. Dallas Fire Rescue responded to the location and pronounced the complainant deceased.
