On Thursday, March 25, 2021, at approximately 9:20 p.m., patrol elements responded to a shooting call at 801 Lydia Lane.  Upon arrival, officers were informed that the victim, Kristie Marie Acosta, a 49-year-old Latin female, had been shot at the location by the suspect, Joe Pizana Acosta, a 32-year-old Latin male who is her son. The victim was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Suspect Acosta was transported to the Homicide Unit, where detectives interviewed him. The suspect invoked his right for an attorney, and he was transported to the Dallas County Jail where he was charged with murder. A Dallas County magistrate will set his bond amount.
