Speeding and Racing Task Force

The Speeding and Racing Task Force (SRTF) continued concentrated enforcement, April 2 – 4, 2021, cracking down on erratic drivers. Officers conducted 193 traffic stops, issued 210 citations, and made 5 felony arrests.

On one incident, the SRTF observed a white Ford Expedition perform 8 to10 “donuts” in the Trammel Crow Park located at 3700 Sylvan Avenue. Officers attempted to stop the Expedition, but the driver refused to stop and evaded officers in the vehicle. Officers were able to locate the vehicle in the 3400 block of Winnetka Avenue and conduct a felony traffic stop in which the driver of the vehicle, a 27-year-old White female, was arrested for Reckless Driving and Evading Arrest/Felony. 

In another incident, the SRTF conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle when they observed the vehicle running a red light at 2300 W. Davis Street and N. Hampton Road. The driver was arrested for his traffic violation and possession of marijuana and Unauthorized Carrying of a Weapon. This traffic stop led to the seizure of 4 THC-based items to include: marijuana packaged for sale and redistribution, THC in wax form, THC in an edible honey mix, and THC in gummy bear candy form.
