Speeding and Racing Task Force

The Speeding and Racing Task Force (SRTF) continued concentrated enforcement, April 16 – 18, 2021, cracking down on erratic drivers. Officers conducted 217 traffic stops, issued 207 citations, and made 3 felony arrests, 28 misdemeanor arrests, and seized 4 guns during this period. 

On Friday, April 16, 2021, officers assigned to the street racing operation observed a vehicle driving erratically and failing to signal a turn. Officers conducted a traffic stop and observed two guns in plain view. One of the guns came back stolen from The Colony Police Department. Additionally, officers found over $3,100 in cash, a large bag of marijuana (37.8g), and a few amphetamine pills. All three occupants of the vehicle were arrested. The incident was documented on case number 065885-2021.

On a separate incident, on Sunday, April 18, 2021, officers assigned to the street racing operation observed a vehicle with multiple occupants spectating at a reckless driving event. A traffic stop was performed, and the driver was arrested for Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility (FMFR) and spectating at a reckless driving event. This individual has been arrested by the operation previously.
