Update 4/21/2021 at 4:30 p.m.
On April 21, 2021, Dallas Police arrested Matthew Cantu, a 23-year-old Latin male, for the murder of Joseph Morris that occurred at 300 N. Lancaster Avenue on April 19, 2021. Cantu was taken to Dallas Police Headquarters and interviewed by a detective with the Homicide Unit. He was subsequently transported to Lew Sterrett Jail and charged with murder, a felony of the first degree. His bond will be determined by a Dallas County Magistrate.

On April 19, 2021, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Dallas police officers responded to a shooting call at 300 N. Lancaster Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, Joseph Morris, a 45-year-old White male, with a gunshot wound. Dallas Fire and Rescue transported the victim to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
