Speeding and Racing Task Force

The Speeding and Racing Task Force (SRTF) continued concentrated enforcement, April 23 – 25, 2021, cracking down on erratic drivers. Officers conducted 186 traffic stops, issued 174 citations, and made one felony arrest, 34 misdemeanor arrests, and seized two guns during this period.

On Friday, April 23, 2021, an officer assigned to the street racing operation observed a vehicle with an illegal window tint. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and arrested the driver for an outstanding warrant for Assault M/A.

On Saturday, April 24, 2021, officers assigned to the street racing operation observed a vehicle fail to turn and proceed straight from a turn-only lane. Officers conducted a traffic stop and found the driver to be intoxicated. The driver was arrested for DWI with one previous conviction. During another incident, a vehicle was observed without a front license plate and subsequently stopped. During the traffic stop, officers observed a gun in plain view on the floorboard. The subject was taken out of the vehicle and found to be in possession of marijuana. The driver was arrested for UCW and possession of marijuana.

Officers arrived to break up a reckless driving event and stopped a vehicle with three spectators inside. The rear passenger attempted to identify themselves as a juvenile, but detectives were able to determine that the subject was providing false information. The subject was arrested for failure to identify and spectating at a reckless driving event.
