On May 10, 2021, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Dallas police officers responded to a shooting call at 5600 N Central Expy Service after the subject, a 22-year-old Latin male, called 911 and reported that he was involved in a road rage incident with the victim, Randolph Oliver, a 36-year-old black male. According to the subject, who was traveling with his wife and child, the victim continued following him after he exited the freeway and then rammed the subject’s vehicle several times before blocking him into a dead end street. The victim then approached the subject’s vehicle and attempted to open the driver side door. The subject then fired a single shot from his handgun, striking the victim, who was transported to an area hospital by Dallas Fire and Rescue and later pronounced deceased. The subject was interviewed by detectives with the Homicide Unit and was released pending a referral to a Dallas County grand jury.
