Street Racing Task Force

During the weekend of May 7 – May 9, 2021, the Speeding and Racing Task Force (SRTF) was in full force responding to speeding and racing offenses across the city.  As a result, 39 arrests were made, 157 traffic stops were conducted, 124 traffic citations were written and there were 3 incidents where drugs were seized.

On one incident, the SRTF attempted to apprehend an individual for reckless driving. The driver fled the location but left his passenger behind. The passenger was arrested for spectating at a Reckless Driving Event, Fail to Identify – Fugitive and a warrant.

On a separate incident, officers working the Street Racing Operation observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation. The driver was discovered to have an active warrant for Probation Violation on an Aggravated Sexual Assault of Elderly/Disabled charge. The driver was arrested.
