On Monday, May 24, 2021, at approximately 8:59 a.m., patrol elements responded to a call regarding a deceased female inside a vehicle in the 3500 block of S. Ledbetter Drive. Upon arrival, officers were informed that the victim, Rhonda Jones Johnson, a 51-year-old white female, had been killed at the location by the suspect, Johnny Lynn Jones, a 34-year-old white male who is her son. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by Dallas Fire-Rescue.

Suspect Jones was transported to the Homicide Unit where detectives interviewed him. The suspect was then transported to the Dallas County Jail where he was charged with murder. A Dallas County magistrate will set his bond amount.
