Shooting on Forest Lane

With the public’s assistance, Zachary Leffall, a 31-year-old Black male, was identified as the person of interest in the shooting of a pregnant female on May 30, 2021.  Detective Limbaugh was able to obtain an arrest warrant for aggravated assault.  On June 22, 2021, an off-duty Dallas Police Officer recognized Suspect Leffall and had prior knowledge of his arrest warrant.  On-duty officers were notified and arrested Suspect Leffall.  He was transported to Dallas Police Headquarters and read his Miranda warning.  Suspect Leffall waived his rights and agreed to speak with Detective Limbaugh where he confessed to his involvement in the shooting.  He was placed in jail for aggravated assault.  His bond will be determined by a magistrate.

On May 30, 2021, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Dallas police responded to a shooting at 9759 Forest Lane.  A female who was leaving church, and walking through the parking lot, was caught in the crossfire of a shootout between a group of unidentified Black males.  The female who was 8-month pregnant was rushed to an area hospital.  Doctors were able to deliver her unborn child.  Both mom and child are reportedly in stable condition.  Dallas police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the unidentified suspects who left the scene in a black Ford Focus and a champagne 4-door Nissan.
