On September 23, 2021, at approximately 3:27 p.m., officers responded to a shooting call at the Altas Design District Apartments, located at 1516 Inspiration Drive. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male with gunshot wounds on the 2nd floor of the parking garage. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and transported him to a local hospital.

At 4:38 p.m., Dallas Police 9-1-1 received a call regarding two adult males walking into another local hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. Through the course of the investigation, officers determined they were part of the shooting that occurred on Inspiration Drive. The victim Darius Ali Claiborn, an 18-year old black male, was one of the individuals shot during this incident and succumbed to his injuries.
