Grand Opening of White Rock Hills Park

On November 6, 2021, City and Community leaders joined together as they officially opened the White Rock Hills Park. It began with a parade filled with mariachis, superheroes, and dance performances. It ended with smiles, laughter, and joy. Friends and families were invited to enjoy the new amenities including two playgrounds, a quarter-mile walking loop, a pavilion for large gatherings, and a flexible athletic field that can be used for multiple sports.

Previously the site of an apartment complex with high crime, White Rock Hills Park is the latest accomplishment in a 20-year effort by the Ferguson Road Initiative (FRI) to improve the neighborhoods and commercial areas of the Ferguson Corridor. “To have a park such as this isn’t just a beautiful sight to look at, but will definitely provide an informal surveillance for the area,” a Dallas Police Officer stated.

The White Rock Hills Park is the perfect example of what can happen when a community and city put their minds together in creating a little piece of happieness.
