On July 7, 2021, the complainant filed an offense report with the Dallas Police Department regarding an unknown suspect using her personal identifiers to lease a condominium in the 1700 block of Bennett Avenue.
During the investigation, Detective Luis Velazquez was able to establish enough probable cause to draft a search warrant. This was the second search warrant in regards to the complainant’s personal identifiers being used fraudulently.
On November 10, 2021, the Central Crime Response Team and Deployment covert officers planned and safely executed a search warrant at the location. During the execution of the search warrant, officers encountered the arrestee 32-year-old Taylor Smith inside the residence. Arrestee Smith was detained and transported to Dallas Police Headquarters to be interviewed.
During the search of the residence, detectives seized over $250,000 in U.S currency, over 160 lbs. of Marijuana, four firearms, drug paraphernalia, money counting machines, a 2018 Ford 150, and other supporting criminal evidence.
As a result of the investigation, the arrestee was charged with Possession of Marijuana, which is a second-degree felony. This was a job well done by our detectives from the Financial Crimes Unit!
