On December 7, 2021, The Dallas Police Financial Investigations Unit was contacted by a representative of Quick Fuel regarding two unidentified males that were filling up their pickup trucks with diesel fuel purchased with stolen credit card information at the 2600 block Lombardy Lane. The Financial Crimes Unit requested the assistance of the Northwest Crime Response Team (CRT) to conduct surveillance at the location.
On December 8, 2021, the Northwest CRT, notified Financial Crimes of a male suspect who was actively pumping diesel fuel into his truck at the same gas station using stolen credit card information. Northwest CRT and Southwest CRT followed the suspect, who was later identified as Osley Alvarez-Morales, to the 5700 block of South Cockrell Hill Road. The officers personally observed Suspect Alvarez-Morales and a second suspect, Suspect Yunier Toledo using a hose to pump the fuel from a tank attached to the bed of the truck into a large storage container. Both suspects were then placed under arrest by the Northwest CRT and Southwest CRT.
During the search of the suspects and their vehicle, officers discovered multiple gift cards that had been re-encoded with the stolen credit card information from various victims. Detectives also seized 423 gallons of stolen diesel fuel in total.
As a result of the investigation, the arrestees were charged with the following:
- Suspect Alvarez-Morales was arrested for Credit Card Abuse (a State Jail Felony) and Fraudulent Use or Possession of Credit Card Information (a 2nd Degree felony).
- Suspect Toledo admitted he was purchasing fuel from Suspect Alvarez-Morales. Toledo was charged with Violation of Motor Fuel Tax Requirement (a 2nd Degree Felony).
Additional charges may be forthcoming.
This was a job well done by our detectives from Financial Crimes Unit and the North and Southwest Crime Response Teams!
