Holiday of Hope

The atmosphere outside the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC) was filled with the Christmas Spirit this evening, December 14, 2021,  as Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia and his team assisted in passing out gift bags to children.

Every Christmas season, the Advocacy Center conducts a large toy drive and provides over 2000 child abuse victims with gifts and toys in their annual Holiday of Hope event. DCAC along with several organizations, including the Dallas Police Department, collected gift donations such as pajamas, coats, fuzzy blankets, books, and toys for boys and girls ranging from 0 to 17 years of age. Although this year’s event was a drive-thru, it didn’t keep Chief Garcia and staff from being rewarded with smiles of joy from all the families.

“This was not only a memorable experience for the children and their parents but for everyone involved. We were given the opportunity to remind these families that we will always be there for them.” Lt. Zafrani stated.

DCAC houses the Child Abuse Unit of the Dallas Police Department, along with six units of CPS, and a Dallas County Assistant District Attorney. Having all of these professionals under one roof drives collaboration and communication on all cases DCAC coordinates.

The generous donations from all the sponsors and community allowed this Holiday of Hope to be both memorable and bright. The Dallas Police Department will continue to assist all those in need and remind the citizens of Dallas that we too will always be here for them.
