You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout, and I am telling you why, Santa Cops are coming to town! ‘Twas the week before Christmas and all the Dallas police elves were working endlessly to pack up all the gifts. In a matter of hours, Santa Cops loaded their vehicles with toys ready to spread Christmas cheer all over Dallas.
On Saturday, December 18th, Dallas police officers, their family members, and volunteers gathered from all divisions to participate in the 37th Annual Santa Cop program. Since 1984, the Dallas Police Department has been actively involved in delivering toys to Dallas area families for Christmas. The Santa Cops program was designed to assist members of the community who have been victims of crime or experienced a tragedy, and therefore unable to provide for their children during the holiday season. Since its conception, the Santa Cops program has assisted over 15,000 families throughout the years. This year, over 350 Santa Cops request forms were submitted, and officers worked diligently to fulfill those requests. This could not be possible without the participation from many sponsors such as Toys for Tots, ServPro of Southwest Dallas, the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce, Dalcliff Wynnewood Lions Club, PetSmart (Coit Road), and Rogers Healy & Associates Real Estate to name a few. Special recognition was given to Mr. Michael Koffler, General Manager for the Hyatt Regency in downtown Dallas. For the past several years, the Hyatt Regency Dallas housed all the toys that were distributed to families across the Dallas area. Assistant Chief Angela Shaw presented Mr. Koffler a Certificate of Merit as an expression of appreciation on behalf of the Dallas Police Department.
We want to thank everyone who gave of their time and resources to provide for those less fortunate. Once again, your hard work and tenacity have made Santa Cops a HUGE success. The Dallas Police Department would like to wish everyone a Happy and Safe Holiday Season!!!
