On December 31, 2021, the Dallas Police Department and the Department of Public Safety conducted a joint road rage initiative throughout the City of Dallas. The focus of this initiative was to identify those persons driving aggressively and under the influence of alcohol or narcotics. Officers from each department operated marked and unmarked vehicles covering areas along US-75, I-45, I-20, I-635, and the Tollway.
The Dallas Police Department and the Department of Public Safety will continue to enforce state traffic and penal code laws concerning aggressive driving and/or offenses and operating a motor vehicle while impaired. Additionally, fixed camera locations have been set up throughout the City to capture and identify persons engaging in aggressive driving. It has been reported that over a seven-year period more than 200 murders and 12,000 injuries have been attributed to road rage. The Dallas Police Department is encouraging all motorists to drive carefully and be courteous to other drivers.
