Arrest Made in Homicide on Peyton Drive

On Friday, March 4, 2022, at approximately 1:20 p.m., Dallas Police Officers responded to a call on Peyton Drive, where the witness, a 67-year-old female, told officers that she had gone to move her car when her son, the Suspect, Jaison Tharian, a 36-year-old Indian male, locked her outside for approximately 30 minutes as she beat on the door.  The witness stated that when the suspect finally opened the door, she found the victim, her husband, Mathew Olapurayil, a 69-year-old Indian male, lying in their bed and was unresponsive.  She stated that he was just up getting ready for work when she went to move her vehicle.  The witness stated that she attempted to resuscitate the victim but was not successful. 

Dallas Fire and Rescue responded and pronounced the victim deceased. Dallas County Medical Examiner responded to the scene and determined that the victim died of homicidal violence from blunt force trauma to the head and face.  There were also possible ligature marks around the victim’s neck.  The suspect had bruises and scratches on his right hand.  The suspect’s clothes and ring were collected as evidence.  The suspect was arrested and taken to Lew Sterrett jail for murder.
