On Monday, March 21, 2022, the Dallas Co. Medical Examiner’s office has identified the victim as James Edward Young, Jr., a 55-year old black male.

On Sunday, March 20, 2022, at approximately 3:49 a.m., Dallas police responded to a shooting call in a shopping center parking lot located at 3600 Samuell Blvd.  Upon arrival, officers found the victim, a 55-year old black male, with a gunshot wound to his chest.  Dallas Fire-Rescue transported the victim to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.  The victim has been identified, and his name will not be released until detectives make the next of kin notification.
