On Sunday, May 1, 2022,  at approximately 4:30 a.m., officers responded to a shooting call in the 3700 block of  McNeil Street. Upon arrival, officers found two male victims lying in the apartment complex breezeway with gunshot wounds. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and transported one of the men to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The other male victim, Elmer Adam Carrera, 30, died at the scene.

The preliminary investigation determined the men had a verbal fight and Carrera charged at the other victim with a knife and baton. The other male victim fired his handgun, hitting both men. The case will be submitted to the Dallas Co. District Attorney’s office.  

The injured victim was arrested for an unrelated charge (Assault M/A) and transported to the Dallas County Jail. The incident will be documented under case number 076217-2022.
