The Dallas Police Department Auto Theft Task Force has arrested 43-year-old Wayland Wayne Wright on the charge of Tampering with a Governmental Record with Intent to Defraud, a State Jail Felony. Detectives, following up on a tip provided by a citizen, conducted an undercover buy of a fake paper tag at the 3600 block of Sunnyvale Street.

On April 20, 2022, a search warrant was executed at the location where additional fake paper tags were recovered as well as $3,000 in cash. Arrested Person Wright later admitted to printing multiple fake and fraudulent paper tags. This ongoing investigation is documented on case number 063873-2022.
