Arrest Made in Amazon Van Thefts

 

Update June 30, 2022 @ 3:30 p.m. – 

On June 30, 2022, Dallas Police Fugitive Unit arrested Michal Ford, 36, on multiple warrants.

In addition to a parole violation, Ford is charged with four felony counts of Theft of Property, two counts of robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Ford and Nakemia Bryant, who was arrested previously, are charged after stealing a total of five Amazon trucks earlier this year; one in January, one in February, and three in March. During one incident, the pair assaulted the driver.

Since the truck offenses, Dallas Police have been searching for Ford.

Today, a Crime Stoppers tip lead the Fugitive Unit to Ford’s location, and along with Dallas Police patrol officers, took Ford into custody.

Ford was taken to the Dallas County Jail.

On March 25, 2022, Southeast Patrol’s CRT Team located 42-year-old Nakemia Bryant on the 2900 block of Cottonwood Lane, arresting her on an outstanding warrant for Driving While Intoxicated out of Balch Springs. Bryant was interviewed by Dallas PD’s Financial Crimes Unit-Organized Retail Crime Squad, confessing to her involvement in all five Amazon van thefts, and provided detectives with the identity of the second suspect, 36-year-old Mical Ford.

On March 26, 2022, detectives executed a search warrant at Bryant’s home and found numerous opened Amazon boxes addressed to other residences.

Dallas Police are currently looking for Ford, and asking for the public’s help in locating him for his involvement in stealing the trucks.

Mical Ford and Nakemia Bryant are responsible for stealing a total of five trucks; one in January, one in February, and three so far in March. During one incident, the pair assaulted the driver. The incidents occurred at the following locations:

  • January 28, 2022 – 8200 blk of Goldfield Drive 017092-2022
  • February 15, 2022 – 1100 blk N. St. Augustine Drive 028026-2022
  • March 11, 2022 – 1900 blk of Bennet Avenue 043141-2022
  • March 16, 2022 – 10200 Tokowa Drive 046321-2022
  • March 22, 2022 – 10300 blk of Nantucket Village Ct. 050112-2022

 

The Amazon trucks have been located by police, but the packages, valued at more than $15,000 have not been located. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information on the crimes or the location of Mical Ford is asked to call Dallas Police at 214-671-3404.
