The following are the arrangements for Dallas Police Officer Jacob Arellano:

On Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., the visitation for Officer Arellano will be held at Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 South Floyd Road, Richardson, Texas 75080. 

A Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m.

Dallas Police Department Honors will be rendered at the end of the service.

 On Friday, October 21, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., a Funeral Mass will take place at the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 673 Old Hueco Tanks Road, El Paso, Texas 79927. 

Interment will follow at the Mount Carmel Cemetery, 401 South Zaragoza Road, El Paso, Texas 79907.

Dallas Police have charged Mayra Rebollar, 31, with Intoxication Manslaughter in connection with the fatal crash on Spur 408.

Rebollar is still hospitalized and has not been arraigned on the charge.

The Dallas Police Department wishes to express its deepest condolences to the family of Officer Jacob Arellano, #11729, who passed away this morning from injuries he suffered in a crash. On October 11, 2022, at around 11:48pm, Officer Arellano, traveling to work for the start of his shift, was driving northbound Spur 408 near Kiest Boulevard when the preliminary investigation determined his SUV was hit by a wrong-way driver. Officer Arellano was driving in the middle of the three lanes when a sedan going southbound in the northbound lanes hit the off-duty officer’s vehicle head-on.

The crash caused the officer’s vehicle to go into the right lane where it was hit by a tractor-trailer. The officer’s vehicle rolled several times and stopped on the right shoulder of Spur 408. The officer was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. The wrong-way driver was taken to a local hospital in serious condition. At this time, the preliminary investigation has determined the wrong way driver may have been intoxicated. The crash investigation is ongoing.

Officer Arellano, 25, has been a member of the Dallas Police Department since June of 2019. He was assigned to Northwest Patrol Division, 1st watch. Funeral arrangements are pending. Officer Arellano is survived by his parents, girlfriend, and infant child. Officer Arellano is also survived by his brother, also a Dallas Police Officer.

The officer was driving in the middle of the three lanes when a sedan going southbound in the northbound lanes hit the front left of the off-duty officer’s vehicle.

The crash caused the officer’s vehicle to go into the right lane where it was hit by a tractor-trailer. The officer’s vehicle rolled several times and stopped on the right shoulder of Spur 408. The officer was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. The wrong-way driver was taken to a local hospital in serious condition. The tractor-trailer driver was not injured.

The crash investigation is ongoing and is documented under case numbers 185498-2022 & 185499-2022.
