Man arrested, facing murder and aggravated robbery charges

Update 11/8/2022 @ 4:15 p.m. 

On November 5, 2022, around 1:20 am, Dallas Police arrested Garrett Hamilton, 29, following a traffic stop where he was found driving a stolen vehicle.

Further investigation by detectives determined Hamilton was responsible for multiple crimes in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Hamilton is charged with Murder for the shooting death of a 48-year-old man on October 25, 2022, in the 3200 block of S. Vernon Avenue.

Hamilton is also charged with three counts of Aggravated Robbery. Hamilton is charged in aggravated robberies on November 2, 2022 at 5:20 am, in the 200 block of W. 12th Street; November 2, 2022, at 10:30am, also in the 200 block of W. 12th Street, and on November 4, 2022, at 5:10 pm, in the 9200 block of East R. L. Thornton Freeway.

He is currently being held at the Dallas County Jail.

The homicide is documented under case number 193813-2022 and the aggravated robberies are documented under case #198683-2022, #198810-2022 and #200298-2022.

On October 25, 2022, at approximately 5:00 a.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting call in the 3200 block of S. Vernon Avenue. The preliminary investigation determined when officers arrived they found Clarence Howard, a 48-year-old male, shot and lying on the ground in front of an apartment.
