On August 8, 2023, Cory Sims, 29, was arrested and charged with Capital Murder.

On July 25, 2023, at approximately 11:24 p.m., Dallas Police were dispatched to a shooting call in the 1200 block of E. Illinois Avenue. The preliminary investigation determined when officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound. The man was transported to a local hospital where he died.

The identity of the man is unknown.

This is an ongoing investigation documented under case number 134429-2023.
