The Dallas Police Department continues to investigate the 2000 murder of 39-year-old Jerrold Miertshin

On October 21, 2000, Mr. Miertschin was found dead in his garage in the 5200 block of Reiger Street.  Dallas Fire Rescue responded to a fire at the location and found Mr. Miertshin burned inside his garage. His death was initially ruled accidental, but the medical examiner ruled the death a homicide. Autopsy results revealed he died from a gunshot wound.

Mr. Miertschin was last seen alive the night before by family members.
