On Saturday, September 9, 2023, at approximately 11:20 pm, Dallas Police Officers responded to a shooting call in the 10900 block of Composite Drive, at the intersection of Walnut Hill Lane. The preliminary investigation determined when officers arrived, they found 31-year-old Nycholas Shields in a vehicle with a gunshot wound. Dallas Fire Rescue responded, and Shields died at the location.

Through the investigation, detectives were able to determine that Shields was shot while at the stoplight by an unknown suspect.

There is no suspect description at this time, and no suspect is in custody.

The investigation is ongoing with detectives actively working leads.
