The suspect driver has been identified as 40-year-old John Carter.

Original Post:

On October 12, 2023, at around 10:45 am, Dallas Police located a stolen vehicle in the 1200 block of South Buckner Boulevard.

The preliminary investigation determined officers attempted to stop the suspect driver, an adult male, in a parking lot of a business, and were approaching the driver on foot, when the driver backed up, ramming the marked patrol vehicle and sped off.  

Officers pursued the suspect southbound on Buckner, going toward Lake June to Elam.

During the pursuit, the suspect hit an uninvolved City Marshal’s vehicle, before crashing into a civilian vehicle in the 10900 block of Elam.

The suspect was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

The civilian driver and officers were not injured.
