Violent Crimes in South Central Dallas

On September 25, 2017, at approximately 12:00 a.m., Dallas Police responded to three violent offenses in the South Central Division. Officers responded to two Aggravated Assault calls and one Aggravated Robbery call. 

At approximately 12:00 a.m., officers responded to the 4500 block of Luzon in regards to a 46-year-old Black female being robbed. The victim stated that she was approached by two Black male suspects as she was seated in her vehicle. The first suspect is described as a 20 to 25-year-old Black male armed with a shot gun. The second suspect is described as a Black male with no other description.  According to the victim, the suspects fled in a vehicle that is described as possibly a white four door Buick Le Sabre with damage to the driver side door. The victim was not injured. This offense is documented on case number 219382-2017.

Also at approximately 12:00 a.m., officers responded to the 7700 block of Carbondale Street to an Aggravated Assault in which a 16-year-old victim was shot. There were no witnesses to the shooting and the only description of the suspect is a Black male. The victim is expected to survive and is recovering at a local hospital. This offense is documented on case number 219340-2017.

At approximately 12:02 a.m., officers responded to the 2400 block of Maryland Avenue to an Aggravated Assault in which a 44-year-old Latin male was shot. There were no witnesses to the shooting, but one witness exited her residence after hearing gun fire and observed a white vehicle speed away from the location. The victim is expected to survive and is recovering at a local hospital. This offense is documented on case number 210339-2017.

At this point in the investigation detectives are not certain that any of these offenses were committed by the same suspect(s). These are still ongoing and active investigations.

Suspect Wanted for Aggravated Assault

The Dallas Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an Aggravated Assault. 

On September 18, 2017 at approximately 1:12 p.m., the unknown suspect threatened the victim with a handgun in the 1000 block of W. Wheatland Road. The suspect is described as a Black male with a beard and medium build. This offense is documented on case number 213836-2017.

Detectives Seeking Information in Greenville Ave. Shooting

On July 12, 2017 at approximately 10:50 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting call at 2100 Greenville Avenue. The victim was walking through a parking lot when he was shot. A dark colored SUV was seen fleeing the location. Suspect Wanted for Aggravated Assault in Deep Ellum

On Monday, January 30, 2017, at about 10:15 p.m., the victim and his friend were leaving the Cold Beer Company, located at 3600 Main Street in Deep Ellum, when they were approached by the suspect.

A young, Black male shot the victim with a handgun. The suspect jumped into a silver 4-door vehicle driven by an unknown person and fled the location. The witness gave a detailed description of the suspect that fired the gun to Dallas Police sketch artist.

Assault at Target on Haskell Avenue

On January 30, 2017, at approximately 5:15 p.m., the second suspect, Zantrell Sauls, a 17-year-old Black male, involved in the assault at 2417 Haskell Ave was taken into custody. He was transported to the Crimes Against Persons Division and was interviewed by investigators. He is being charged with Aggravated Assault, a felony of the second degree.

A juvenile suspect has been taken into custody in this assault. Detectives are still actively looking for the second suspect pictured below wearing the red/blue jeans. He is described as a B/M/18-20, 5’9”, 150 pounds. Last seen wearing a black hoodie with white lettering, red/blue jeans, white Nike shoes, black backpack, and a gorilla mask. Dallas Police detectives have released new surveillance pictures of the suspects involved in this offense. These pictures show the suspects at the Cityplace Station about fifteen minutes after the offense occurred.

On January 14, 2017 at approximately 11:05 p.m., the complainant, Derrick Whitener, was assaulted with a wooden rod by two suspects in the Target parking lot located at 2417 N. Haskell Avenue. The complainant arrived at Target and as he was walking towards the front entrance of the business, the suspects began walking towards him. The suspects are observed walking away from the complainant after he makes it to the front door. While inside, the complainant reported the individuals as suspicious to Target personnel.  Meanwhile, the suspects remained near the front entrance.

Target security alerted an off-duty Dallas Police officer. Both the security guard and the off-duty officer approached the suspects near the entrance. One suspect walked away, while the suspect with the wooden rod had a brief discussion with the off-duty officer and security guard. The two suspects were asked to leave the property.   At around 11:05 p.m., the complainant exited the business after shopping. As he walked to his vehicle, he was approached by the suspects. They made a threatening statement to the complainant and then beat him with the stick and fled on foot towards the street. A customer in the parking lot reported the incident to the off-duty officer, who then assisted the complainant. The Assault Unit was notified of the incident on January 15th and began the assault investigation.

Detectives were able to retrieve video surveillance of the offense. Detectives will need to interview the victim, but have canvased the area for additional video and witnesses. The victim received severe injuries, but is expected to recover. We are asking for the public’s assistance in the identification of the two suspects.

Request for Public Assistance in Community Center Shooting

The Dallas Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect(s) involved in a shooting that occurred on June 24, 2016.  At about 10:30 pm, Vincent Warren was leaving a party that was being held at the Turnkey Community Center located at 4204 Tioga Street in Dallas. As the party was being shut down for the night, unknown suspect(s) began to shoot in the parking lot. As Mr. Warren walked back to his car, he was struck by one of the gunshots. Detectives are asking for the assistance of the community, specifically those that attended the party. Anyone with information pertaining to the shooting can contact Dallas Police Detective E.A. Shooting Incident on Tioga Street

On June 24, 2016, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Dallas officers responded to a major disturbance call at a community center located in the 4200 block of Tioga Street.  When the officers arrived, there were several hundred teenage party goers hanging inside and outside of the community center.  The officers entered the community center to disperse the crowd.  While inside the facility, the officers heard multiple shots being fired from outside of the facility. The officers called for additional officers to respond with emergency lights and sirens.

When the officers went outside, they found a 17 year old male victim injured from an apparent gunshot.  Dallas Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital where he is being treated.  

After the additional officers arrived, they immediately began dispersing the large crowd and investigating the aggravated assault. After approximately 40 minutes had passed and the crowd dispersed, the officers were preparing to leave the scene when they were approached by teenage witnesses who claimed that the victim was shot by one of the initial responding officers on the scene.  Supervisors immediately began handling the shooting incident like an officer involved shooting and made the appropriate notifications.  The Special Investigations Unit responded.  No physical evidence has been found to support the claim.  This is an ongoing investigation and will be documented on case number 153297-2016.

Homicide on Centerville Road

On June 17, 2016, at approximately 4:53 a.m., victims Mark Wagner and Caleb McIntire were found shot in the 1500 block of Centerville Road. This offense is documented on case number 146179-2016. Anyone with information regarding the murder of victim Mark Wagner or the Aggravated Assault of victim Caleb McIntire is asked to contact Dallas Police Detective C. Walton at (214) 671-3632.

Officers found one victim deceased from gunshot wounds and a second victim, who was transported to a local hospital and is being treated for gunshot wounds. On June 5, 2016 at about 2:45 a.m., Dallas Police officers responded to a report of a shooting victim at Medical City Hospital. The victim stated he was shot at a nearby location. The victim is expected to survive. The offense is documented on case number 135191-2016. Assault detectives are working to determine if this offense may be related to the shooting at 1300 Empire Central. That offense is documented on case number 135175-2016.

On May 25, 2016, the victim was traveling in her vehicle with friends on Colorado Blvd when she was struck by a stray bullet. Witnesses at the scene told officers that the gunshot came from a yellow Dodge pickup truck with black stripes on it  being driven by a Latin male in his 20s which fled southbound on Blaylock Dr.

The victim was transported to Methodist Hospital by a passenger in her vehicle and is in stable condition. Dallas Police are asking that if anyone has any information regarding this offense to contact Crime Stoppers at (214) 373-TIPS (8477).
