Animal Cruelty – 2900 Remond Drive

 

Update: Suspect Sought in Animal Cruelty case: 

The SPCA of Texas is offering a reward of $5,000 and North Texas Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to an additional $5,000 for information that leads to the indictment of the suspect(s) involved in an Animal Cruelty case that occurred on June 27, 2014 at 2900 Remond Drive, Dallas, Texas.   During the early morning hours on this date, suspect(s) intentionally impaled two domestic cats on top of a metal security fence.

On June 27th at approximately 2:50 am, a citizen called to report that a suspect had impaled two cats by their hind legs on a 6 foot metal fence in an apartment complex in the 2900 block of Remond Drive. Dallas Fire Rescue cut the top portion of the metal fence posts off in order to remove the severely injured cats. While they were freeing the cats from the fence, one cat ran off before Dallas Fire Rescue personnel could place it in a container for transport and could not be located. Dallas Animal Services took custody of the other cat which sadly had to be euthanized due to the extent of its injuries.

The Dallas Police Department is seeking the suspect responsible for this offense of Animal Cruelty. The suspect is described as a Latin male between the ages of 25 to 35. He was seen fleeing the location in a White 4 door Honda Accord. Anyone with information on this offense is asked to call Detective Ira Carter at 214-671-0633.

Cockfighting Ring Busted in Pleasant Grove

Jack EvansNeighbors of the 2700 block of Lewiston Anevue were upset to find a group of 25 people involved in cockfighting, so they did the right thing and called police. This incident occurred on March 23rd.

 Upon arrival, officers discovered a large group of individuals, along with automobiles parked all over the back yard containing roosters in cages.  Dallas Animal Services officials responded as well and confiscated 45 roosters and an additional 77 roosters were euthanized.  

 During this operation, 9 vehicles were towed and 14 citations were issued to participants watching the cockfight.

 Southeast Investigative Unit Detectives are in the process of interviewing the suspect in control of the listed location. Additional charges are pending.
