Dallas Police investigate homicides on 3500 block of Villaverde Avenue

 

Update on 3/14/23 @  3:02 p.m. 

The victims have been identified as:

Juan Diego Cruz,18 years old 

Lupe Cruz, 24 years old 

Jasmine Borjas Santos, 20 years old 

Fatima Guadalupe Alvarado Fuentes, 21 years old 

 

Original Post:

On March 12, 2023, at around 7:10 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting call in the 3500 block of Villaverde Avenue. The preliminary investigation determined when officers arrived they found two adult males and two adult females shot in an apartment. The victims died at the scene.

Further investigation identified two suspects, Artemio Maldonado, 18, and Azucena Sanchez, 20.

Around 9:30 pm, Dallas Police located the suspect vehicle in the 2700 block of Northhaven Road and both suspects were taken into custody just after 10:00 pm.

Maldonado and Sanchez were taken to Dallas Police Headquarters and to the Dallas County Jail and each charged with Capital Murder.

The names of the victims are not being released at this time while family notifications are made.

An infant was in the apartment during the shooting but was not hurt.

The investigation is ongoing and documented under case number 042506-2023.

Homicide on Southern Oaks

Update 1/16/2023 at 10:40 AM:

The juvenile who died in the shooting was 11 years old. The preliminary investigation determined the teen who shot the victim is 14 years old. The 14-year-old is charged with murder and is in the Henry Wade Juvenile Justice Center. The weapon was recovered during the course of the investigation. This remains an ongoing investigation.

On January 15, 2023, at about 2:00 PM, Dallas Police responded to a shooting call at an apartment complex located at 3303 Southern Oaks Boulevard. The preliminary investigation determined that a fight between two juvenile females occurred in the parking lot. One juvenile suspect retrieved a handgun and shot in the direction of the female she was fighting; however, the shot struck a male juvenile bystander. The male juvenile was transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.

The juvenile suspect ran from the location and was later taken into custody at a nearby apartment complex. This remains an ongoing investigation that will be documented on case number 008774-2023.

Homicide on S. Lancaster Road

Update: 12/1/22 @ 12:55 P.M.

The victim has been identified as Phillips Betts, 26.

Original Post:

On November 29, 2022, at approximately 7:27 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting call at the Family Dollar store located at 3200 S. Lancaster Road.  When officers arrived, they found a man lying in front of the store with a gunshot wound. 

The preliminary investigation determined the victim got into a fight with store employees, leading to a robbery of items he was trying to take from the store.

The suspect, Kevin Jackson Sr, 47, entered the store as a customer, witnessed the fight, and then shot the victim.

The victim stumbled outside the store and collapsed and died at the scene. 

The victim did not have any weapons at the time of the incident.   

The suspect was arrested for Murder and taken to Lew Sterrett Jail.

This is an ongoing investigation that will be documented on case number 214567-2022.

Homicide on Silkwood Street

Update June 29, 2022 at 8:15 a.m. – 

On June 28, 2022, the Dallas Police Department’s Child Abuse Unit, with the assistance of the Southeast Crime Response Team, arrested Ulysses Kizzee, 74, on the charge of Injury to a Child/Serious Bodily Injury by Omission, a 1st degree felony. The arrest is in connection to the death of a five-year-old boy that occurred on June 27, 2022, documented on case# 115651-2022.

 

This remains an ongoing investigation.

 

Update June 27, 2022 @ 9:05 p.m. –

On June 27, 2022, Dallas Police charged Tiffany Williams, 26, with Injury to a Child – Serious Bodily Injury, in the death of a five-year-old child on Silkwood Street.

Williams was taken to the Dallas County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing tonight.

On June 27, 2022, at approximately 11:25 a.m., Dallas police responded to a call at a residence in the 2800 block of Silkwood Street regarding an injured child. DFR also responded and found a 5-year-old male child dead. The preliminary investigation shows that the child has signs of trauma.

The Dallas Police Department’s Child Abuse Unit will be leading the investigation. Witnesses were taken to the Child Advocacy Center for questioning. This remains an ongoing investigation that will be documented on case number 115651-2022.

Arrests Made in Homicide on Diceman Avenue

 

Updated on April 22, 2022:

On April 22, 2022, at about 6:00 am, Dallas Police Homicide and U.S. Marshals executed arrest warrants and arrested two suspects, ages 15 and 14, for the murder of 16-year-old Marvin Rivera.

On April 21, 2022,  Dallas Police Homicide received a Crime Stoppers Tip identifying the two male suspects and their locations.

The juveniles were transported to Henry Wade Juvenile Detention for processing.

On Sunday, March 13, 2022, at approximately 3:49 p.m., Dallas police responded to a major accident in the 1200 block of Diceman Avenue.  Upon arrival, officers observed a vehicle that crashed into a house.  None of the residents were injured but were evaluated by Dallas Fire-Rescue.  Dallas Fire-Rescue noticed the victim, Marvin Rivera, a 16-year-old Latin male, had multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Homicide on Frankford Road

On Sunday, March 13, 2022, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Dallas police responded to a shooting call at the Buffalo Joes Bar & Grill located at 3636 Frankford Road. The victim, Quinton Jamel Shields, a 38-year-old Black male, was shot multiple times in the rear parking lot. He was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. The motive and circumstances regarding this murder are under investigation.

Homicide on Laureland Road

 

On Thursday, March 10, 2022, at approximately 2:31 a.m., Dallas police responded to a shooting call at the 100 block of West Laureland Road.  Upon arrival, officers found the victim, Roy Eddie Williams, a 54-year-old Black male, on the ground with a gunshot wound to his chest.  Dallas Fire-Rescue transported the victim to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

Through the course of the investigation, the Homicide Unit determined that suspect Patrick Larow Stewart, a 48-year-old Black male, was responsible for the murder.

On Saturday, March 12, 2022, the suspect was arrested, and he’s currently in the Dallas County Jail.  He has been charged with Murder, and a magistrate will set his bond.

Homicide on Vantage Point Drive

On Thursday, December 9, 2021, at approximately 5:53 p.m., Dallas police officers responded to a shooting call at 9019 Vantage Point Drive at the Extended Stay America Motel.  Upon arrival, they found an unknown Black male complainant, approximately 25-30-years-old, lying in the middle of the parking lot with a single gunshot wound.  Dallas Fire and Rescue responded to the scene, but the complainant died from his injuries.

The complainant was the back driver seat passenger of a red or burgundy Dodge Charger that was being driven by another male that fled the scene after the offense.  There was a dark grey or silver sedan that was driven by the suspect who also fled the scene immediately after the offense.

Homicide on Garrison Street

On Saturday, November 20, 2021, at approximately 6:12 p.m., Dallas police responded to a shooting call in the 4100 block of Garrison Street.  Upon arrival, officers found the unknown victim, a Black male, lying on the ground with gunshot wounds just several yards away from a vehicle.  Dallas Fire-Rescue pronounced him deceased at the scene.  The motive and circumstances surrounding this murder are under investigation.  The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office will attempt to identify the victim through fingerprints analysis.

Homicide on Wickersham Drive: Public Assistance Needed

On Friday, November 19, 2021, at approximately 7:26 p.m., Dallas police officers responded to a shooting call at 9607 Wickersham Drive.  Upon arrival, officers located the victim, 32-years-old Miguel Angel Villela-Cruz, sitting inside his vehicle.  The victim had suffered a single gunshot wound from an unknown suspect.  The suspect, possibly wearing a green shirt, fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.  Dallas Fire and Rescue transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The circumstances regarding this murder are unknown at this time. This remains an ongoing investigation.
