Suspect2PhotoOn November 15, 2015, at approximately 1:10 PM, the Northpark Mall’s loss-prevention office notified Dallas police officers that shoplifting suspects were fleeing the mall to an attached parking garage.

As the suspects attempted to drive out of the parking garage, they were confronted by a mall security officer, who attempted to block them by standing in the path of their vehicle.  The suspects continued to drive forward and the security officer, to avoid being run over, jumped onto the hood of the vehicle.  Based on witness accounts, a uniformed off-duty Dallas police officer working at the mall who responded to attempt to arrest the suspects, fired his duty weapon at the suspect vehicle.  The suspects fled the location in a silver Ford Taurus. There are no reported injuries at this time. The suspects are described as 3 Black females between ages 20-30 years old.  Detectives are currently investigating and working to identify and secure any video related to the incident.

The involved officer has been placed on routine administrative leave per policy. We will provide additional information as it becomes available and appropriate for release.
