Suspect Sought in Homicide on MD Love Shooting

During this investigation, Dallas Police Homicide Detectives learned that Pedro Luis Ambriz, a 32-year old Latin male, was responsible for killing the victim Derrick Ladon Woods, a 38-year old Black male, at the Magnolia Creek Apartments located at 7272 Marvin D. Love Freeway. 

On Friday, January 11, 2019, Pedro Luis Ambriz was taken into custody by Dallas police and transported to the Dallas Police Jack Evans Headquarters where he declined to give a statement to Homicide detectives.  Pedro Luis Ambriz was transported to the Dallas County Lew Sterrett Jail and charged with Murder, a felony one.

On Wednesday, January 8, 2019, at approximately 2:31 p.m., Dallas police responded to a shooting call at the Magnolia Creek Apartment located at 7272 Marvin D. Love Freeway. Officers found the victim, Derrick Ladon Woods, a 38-year old Black male, on the ground next to a parked vehicle in front of building 23. The victim suffered from an apparent gunshot wound to his chest area. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and pronounced him deceased at the scene.
