On Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at approximately 9:08 p.m., Dallas police responded to the Mockingbird Flats Apartments located at 5600 SMU Blvd regarding a shooting.  Upon their arrival, they discovered an unidentified Black male deceased inside an apartment.  The homeowner, Justin Mcneely, a Black male 26-years-old, was found on the outside of the apartment complex suffering from a gunshot wound.  He was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and released.  The homeowner waived his Miranda rights and agreed to speak with detectives at the Jack Evans Police Headquarters.  He admitted shooting the unidentified Black male during a botched robbery attempt.  His story supports the physical evidence found at the scene.  This is an on-going investigation and the homeowner was released pending a grand jury referral for murder on case #101594-2019.
