When officers arrived, officers approached the back of the shopping center and saw an open back door, then a man exiting, who said they were being robbed.

An officer entered through the back door and found patrons inside the illegal business.

The suspects ran from the front door, where they encountered other responding officers.

The investigation determined one suspect, later identified as 23-year old Reginald Curry, was running from officers when he turned, pointed a weapon, and fired a shot across his shoulder at the officers.

Officers saw the suspect then run behind a business in the 2800 block of West Wheatland and approached in their patrol vehicles.

Officers gave loud commands for Curry to drop his weapon, Curry refused and continued to fire at officers.

All officers returned fire, hitting the suspect in the leg and chest area.

Curry was taken into custody and officers administered first aid at the scene.

Curry will be charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant.

The investigation is ongoing and is being investigated by the Dallas Police Special Investigations Unit. Additional charges and arrests are possible.
