Update:9/27/23

On September 26, 2023, 48-year-old James Patrick was identified as a suspect in the homicide in the 1400 block of Elm Street.

He was taken into custody in Austin, Texas, by University of Texas Police. Patrick will be charged with Murder and is custody in Travis County.

On September 25, 2023, at 1:15 p.m., Dallas police responded to a call for service in the 1400 block of Elm Street.

The preliminary investigation determined when officers arrived, they found 46-year-old Jenean Chapman, dead in an apartment.

On September 26, 2023, the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Chapman’s death was a homicide.

The unexplained death investigation has been reclassified a homicide and is documented under case number 172559-2023.
