On February 9, 2016, the Dallas Police Department arrested Van Gilbert, black male, D.O.B. 8/12/62.  The arrest stemmed from an investigation that was initiated in August, 2015 by the Child Exploitation Squad after the victim, a 14 year old male at the time of the offense, reported a sexual abuse offense against arrestee Gilbert.  The reported offenses occurred in 1997 when the victim was enrolled at arrestee Gilbert’s dance studio, Mahogany Dance Theatre of Texas.  Two (2) cases of Indecency with a Child were developed from the investigation and reported on Case Number 020499-2016.

Arrestee Gilbert was placed in the Dallas County Jail for Indecency with a Child/Contact and Indecency with a Child/Exposure with $100,000 bond on each charge.
