Endangered Person Now Homicide: Marisol Espinosa

Update – July 13, 2017:

On July 12, 2017, Faustino Lara Valdez was taken into custody in Francisco Madero, Durango, Mexico by Mexican authorities. These officials, working in close coordination with the FBI legal attaché office at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City, took Valdez into custody without incident.

Valdez is wanted for the death of his ex-girlfriend Marisol Espinosa. He will be transferred from his FBI escort to members of the Dallas Police Department Homicide Unit.

After debriefing at police headquarters, Valdez will then be placed in the Dallas County Jail charged with Ms. Espinosa’s murder.  

Update – December 29, 2016 @ 2:28 PM:

The Dallas Police Department announces that a Murder warrant has been issued for Faustino Valdez in connection with the death of Marisol Espinosa.

If anyone has information concerning this case or the suspect, they should immediately call 911 or Homicide Detective C. Shelton, at 214-283-4900. This investigation is still active and ongoing. This is the only information being released at this time.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information called into Crime Stoppers that leads to the arrest and indictment for this felony offense and other felony offenses. Call crime Stoppers at (214) 373-Tips, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Update – March 8, 2016 @ 6:00 PM:

The Dallas County Medical Examiner has identified the remains found at 2900 Dowdy Ferry Road on Sunday, March 6th as belonging to Marisol Espinosa.

In light of the identification made, the Dallas Police Department has reclassified the investigation into Marisol Espinosa’s disappearance as a homicide investigation.  We still await the determination as to a cause and manner of death from the Medical Examiner.  We will release additional information as it becomes available and appropriate to do so.

Below is a timeline of the investigation and its progression:

December 12, 2015 – Espinosa, mother, and kids moved in with ex-boyfriend after their house caught fire 

December 29, 2015 – Youth Ops began investigation as Want to Locate

December 29, 2015 – January 1, 2016 – Interviewed family/friends

January 1, 2016 – Increased to Critical Missing/Endangered Person when vehicle was found 

January 1, 2016 – Present –

  • Crimes Against Persons Division was added to the investigation to interview possible witnesses, gather evidence etc.
  • DPD personnel continued searching various areas with assistance from the Helicopter Unit, K-9, Mounted, and Patrol
  • Youth and Patrol personnel, along with Mark 9 Search & Rescue, and the Mounted Unit searched the creek/storm drain on foot and horseback near the Umphress Recreational Center on Umphress Road., due to close proximity to last seen location and where vehicle was recovered.
  • Helicopter Unit checked area and on-foot personnel searched areas where the helicopter personnel were unable to see.
  • Southeast Patrol personnel and Deployment have been put on Special Assignment to assist. Officer are currently checking vacant lots, verifying locations, etc.

The Dallas Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating endangered missing person, Ms. Marisol Espinosa. Ms. Espinosa was last seen on December 29, 2015 at about 8:00 a.m. leaving her residence in the 7700 block of Aurora Street. On January 1, 2016, Ms. Espinosa’s vehicle was found abandoned behind the apartment complex, Las Lomas Apartments at 6161 Trail Glen Drive. Ms. Espinosa is described as a 34 year old Latin female and is 5’5 and weighs 125 pounds.

Critical Missing Person – Amaya

The Dallas Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a Critical Missing Person.  Jose Daniel Amaya was last seen on July 2, 2017, at about 10:45 p.m., in the 1200 block of Audelia Road.  Mr. Amaya is described as a Latin male 23 years old, 5’04” 144 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.  He was last seen wearing a white shirt, blue jeans shorts, and white and red sandals.

Mr. Amaya was upset and highly intoxicated when he stabbed himself with a knife on the stomach and fled the location on foot.  He should be considered a danger to himself.  There is no picture available of Mr. Amaya.

Critical Missing Person- Margarito Mendoza

The Dallas Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating the above individual.

On June 2, 2017, at around 7:30 a.m., Mr. Margarito Mendoza was last seen leaving the 10032 Heritage Place, Dallas, TX. Mr.Mendoza is a 22 year old Latin male, he is 5’02” weighs about 150 lbs., has black hair with brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt with gray sweatpants. Mr. Mendoza is known to be on foot therefore he may be seen walking, he may also appear to be a danger to himself or others.

Critical Missing Person Wesley Bowers

Update on 6/01/2017 @ 1:25 a.m.: Critical Missing Person Wesley Bowers has been located and is safe.

The Dallas Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Critical Missing Person Wesley Bowers.  On Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at approximately 10:40 a.m., Mr. Bowers was last seen in the 5000 block of Veterans Drive, Dallas Texas.  He left the location in a 2008 blue Dodge Ram Texas plate #HDH-8002.  Mr. Bowers has been diagnosed with dementia.

Mr. Bowers is described as a Black male 83 years old with gray hair and brown eyes.  He is approximately 5’09” and weighs 180 pounds.  Mr. Bowers was last seen wearing navy blue pants and a blue baseball cap.

The Dallas Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance to locate a critical missing 53 year old male.

On May 18, 2017, at about 5:00 PM, Gerry Kelly was last seen leaving his home in the 3600 block of Holliday Court. Gerry Kelly is a Black male 53 years old is 5’8″ inches tall, weighs 168 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing gray sweatpants, a gray sweat shirt, and white t-shirt. Mr. Kelly has dementia and may be confused.

Critical Missing Person- Miriam Restrepo

The Dallas Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating the below critical missing person.

On May 5, 2017 at about 10:30 a.m., Miriam Restrepo was last seen in the 5400 block of Lidnsley Avenue Dallas, TX. Ms. Restrepo is a 71 year old White female, she is about 5’03” weighs 130 lbs., has brown eyes with curly, salt and pepper hair. She was last seen wearing a pink shirt with gray pants and black Nike shoes.

On May 10, 2017, during the morning hours, Ms. Shantia Christina Ramirez was last seen in the 2700 block of Clayton Oaks Drive. Ms. Ramirez is a 32 year old Latin female, she is approximately 5’05 and weighs 300 lbs, she has brown hair and brown eyes. Her last clothing description is unknown and she is believed to be a danger to herself and or others.

Critical Missing Person Arzeta

Update April 29, 2017, @ 1:25 AM:  Critical Missing Person Maria Arzeta has been located and is safe.

The Dallas Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating 16 year old Maria Guadalupe Arzeta- Corpuz.  On April 28, 2017, at approximately 9:24 p.m., Maria reported to be in the area of Commerce Street and Hampton Road and threatened to harm herself.

Maria is described as a Latin female 16 years old 5’02”, 101 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.  She was last seen wearing a grey sweatshirt.

Critical Missing Person Aussicker

Update April 29, 2017, at 7:17 AM: Critical Missing Person Edward Aussicker has been located and is safe.

The Dallas Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Critical Missing Person Edward Aussicker.  On Friday, April 28, 2017, at approximately 1:45 p.m., Mr. Aussicker drove away from the 10900 block of Gable Drive in a silver 2013 Hyundai Sonata, 4door Texas license plate CVB8095.  He has Alzheimers and may be confused and need assistance.  Mr. Aussicker is described as a White male 70 years old, 5’11” 150 pounds with brown eyes and silver hair.  He was last seen wearing a blue sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Critical Missing Person Dewey Lee Simmons

Update April 23, 2017, at 2:32 p.m. Mr. Dewey Simmons, was located at 2200 Bryan Street at 1:25 pm and is ok. We would like to thank everyone for the assistance.

The Dallas Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Critical Missing Person Dewey Lee Simmons.

On April 22, 2017, at about 2:20 p.m., Dewey Lee Simmons was last seen walking eastbound in the 5000 block of Mexicana Road wearing a black short sleeve shirt with “2010” in white letters on the back, with black pants and black shoes. He was also carrying an Aldi’s grocery bag. Mr. Simmons is a Black Male 75 years old, 5’00” tall, weighs 160 pounds, with gray hair and a gray beard.  Mr. Simmons has been diagnosed with Dementia.
